Good evening. And welcome to the breakdown. I am Tara. Set Mayor. The Rick Wilson will be joining us shortly. And we are just six days away from the insurrection at the Capitol. On on Lee. Eight days away. Thank God. From the inauguration of Joe Biden tonight, we have a great show in store for you to great guests to talk about some pretty important topics. First, we have Mike German. He is a former FBI agent and expert on law enforcement and intelligence, oversight and reform. We're gonna be talking to him about the indifference to far right extremism and the rise of that over the years in our federal law enforcement agencies. And how we how we got how we got here with these right wing extremists. So looking forward to that conversation with him as well as Fred Kaplan from Slate, he's going to talk to us a little bit about why the country has struggled to defend itself, not just from threats from like Russian hackers and those kinds of threats, but also to some of the homegrown threats like we saw at the capital. Ah, lot has happened since the last time we were together. We've seen some of these violent rioters arrested. That's good. Um, what's not good is that there are threats, serious threats that seems to have the counterintelligence community a little shook, as they say in the kids common parlance, more threats of violence at 50 state capitals and the inauguration in the days leading up to it. Um, that's not good. We've also learned mawr about the security failures and the intelligence failures that led up to the insurrection. Um, and some of these details are just not only harrowing, but infuriating. Um, how this happened is just absolutely unacceptable on so many levels. And what we're going to talk more about that with my German coming up, the House has introduced articles of impeachment. So over the weekend, while the Democrats were working hard and putting this together, Mitch McConnell sent the Senate on vacation. They've been sitting on their ass not doing anything but the house. As put together a 76 page document that's out you can read. It's available online now over the House Judiciary Committee's website. Um, laying out the case for impeachment, which will be historic. It's happening tomorrow. No president in history has ever been impeached twice. So there is that, um, I still can't really believe that I'm talking about a second impeachment and an impeachment that centers around insurrection and sedition like this is like incitement of insurrection and attempted coup, like it's craziness. But this is where we are. This is what's going on. This is what's happening. So there's a lot to digest. Let's take a look at the

President Trump's social media has been silenced. In addition to Twitter banning President Trump, the conservative app parlor has been removed from most major APP stores. Backlash TOE Last week's violent attack on Capitol Hill is extending to President Trump's businesses overnight. The PG announcing it is canceling plans to host the 2022 PGA Championship at the Trump Now National Golf Club. Bar Association says it's considering expelling Rudy Giuliani for his remarks to the president's supporters before the capital was attacked. There are growing calls for U. S senator from Texas, Ted Cruz, to be disbarred or resign immediately, Republican lawmaker Lyle Larson said. Senator Cruz needs to be quiet and quote, Stop embarrassing himself West Virginia Republicans who videotaped himself going into the capital. He was arrested today. Two Capitol police officers suspended on a third person arrested for their roles in last week's insurrection, many noting police showed remarkable restraint with mostly white mom and officer. Even taking a selfie was one of the arrived. Other officers are under investigation. More members of the pro trump mob that stormed the capital are now under arrest. Some of them are facing weapons charges, some of them broad weapons. Mike Pence is gonna have to come through for us. E. Trump is a juggernaut. Your legacy is nothing. People thought that what I said was totally appropriate. The president incited and facilitated a violent assault on Congress that resulted in five deaths in the wake of last week's capital seeds. There are new threats to the inauguration on that risk for violence is not just on Inauguration Day nor just in Washington, D. C. I'm afraid that you can't put this genie back in the bottle quite so easy.

It's a lot, folks. It's Ah lot. Um, you know, at Christmas, my mom bought me a really cute gift, actually, two of them. You probably see him behind me on my set. This is how we get through this, because we have to find ways to just keep it together because it's just a lot to process. Donald Trump was silent in the public for six days. We finally saw him speak about this despicable act today for the first time in six days since an insurrection, one that he incited. And what did he Dio took zero responsibility. No one is surprised by this. He doesn't do that. It's straight out of the Roy Cohn playbook. You deny you don't take responsibility, you double down and then you turn it around and accused people who are accusing you of things. You accuse them of the same thing. That's his. It's his m o. He does it every single time. And
